Making the Transition from Working in the Fields to Owning a Factory

Isabel Quintero was working in the fields when she learned about Grameen. With her first loan she bought two goats and started making tamales. Now she has a busy tortilla factory with two employees. At full capacity she can produce 35 kilos of tortillas a day. Isabel, 38, wants her children to study at the university so they will be able to find good jobs. “Before we didn’t know what would happen when there was no work, but now I have a regular job,” she says.
