GDLF loans helped Esthela Zamora first with a clothing business and then with an innovative plumbing enterprise.

A Plumbing Supply Business for a "Non-conformist"

Esthela Solis Zamora was accepted into the Grameen program three years ago, and is now receiving a 7,000-peso loan ($700.) She grew up very poor and had to quit school to go to work. Now she sells shower doors that she buys wholesale. Her neighborhood recently was equipped with a sewage system and all the families want indoor plumbing. With her profits, she’s added onto her house and put a roof on her front area. She works so her one son will never need anything. “I’m a non-comformist type of person,” she says. “I don't want to live in two rooms my whole life. I want to advance myself.”
